League Preview: Limerick -v- Bohemians

LIMERICK

The Blues return to the Market’s Field having claimed an impressive victory over Sligo Rovers last weekend. Compact, organised and balanced, Tommy Barrett’s side were deserving winners in Sligo and will look to build on it against a confident Bohemians side.

Limerick’s squad was dealt a blow during the week with Freddy Hall departing, however the Bermudan was immediately replaced by Tommy Holland, who re-joins after a brief spell in junior football with Carew Park.

Tommy Barrett spoke of his admiration for Bohemians on this week’s Extratime Sportscast. “You have to go into the game confident. We always try to be positive, and confident. Obviously we’re not getting carried away – it’s a real tough challenge against Bohs,”

Barrett added, “I’ve a lot of respect for them (Bohemians), they’re a great team and they’re very energetic. They work hard and can play different types of football – they’re adaptable. They’ve got two top coaches as far as I can see. It’ll be tough, but all the games will be tough.”

Connor Ellis should return to the squad having missed out in Sligo, while it would be surprising if Limerick make any changes to their starting eleven.

BOHEMIANS

The Gypsies enjoyed a fantastic start to the season as they stunned Shamrock Rovers late on last weekend. And, while the Dalymount chipper will not be open this weekend, Keith Long will be hoping that his side can serve up another tasty display on Shannonside.

Early last season, Bohs were 1-0 winners at the Markets Field, however Limerick won the other two clashes, 2-1 and 1-0 – the latter after Georgie Poynton missed a penalty in the Garryowen venue.

Long will know that his side were far from fluid offensively last week, but their effectiveness in nullifying Ronan Finn and Greg Bolger will leave them confident of doing similar to Shane Duggan and their former player Eoin Wearen.

Bohemians won nine and lost six of their 15 away games last year, bizarrely not drawing once on their travels.
