U17 Semi Final Draw Made
The draw for the semi-final of the Under 17’s Elite League were made today at FAI HQ in Abbottstown, and was overseen by League director Fran Gavin and John McGuinness.
In the first semi-final, last year’s Southern Division table toppers Cork City will travel to face Galway United.
City were taken all the way to penalties by Finn Harps after an exhilarating 3-3 draw at Finn Park, however they did see off their Northern opposition after four kicks a piece.
United, who also required a penalty shootout to dispatch of St Patrick’s Athletic in the quarter final finished just behind the Tribesmen in the table this year on goal difference.
In the other semi-final, Waterford are keen to follow up on the success achieved by their first team, as they host Bohemians at The RSC.
Like Galway and Cork before them, The Blues Quarter-Final tie with Dundalk also had to be settled via penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time.
Opponents Bohemians got the better of their bitter rivals Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium after a dramatic 111th minute Mitchell Byrne winner.
The date for both games is yet to be confirmed, however a 2 O’clock kick-off has been set for both ties with the Winner of Galway vs Cork gaining home advantage for the Final.
