Monaghan United welcome UCD to Kingspan Century Park on Friday night having picked up ten points from a possible 15 last month and narrowly losing out to Shelbourne last week (Kick-off 8.00pm).

After a rocky start to the season the Mons manager Mick Cooke has started to turn things around and he will be hopeful that this run will not stop against the Students.

“This will be our second week in a row in competition against metropolitan opposition. Last week I came away from Tolka Park with very mixed emotions, on the one hand I was disappointed with the final result but on the other I got great satisfaction from our overall performance. When we got back on terms I felt we had Shelbourne on the rack and were unlucky not to take the lead.”

“We now must look forward to Friday’s game. We were on a good run and I don’t believe it has ended.”

Monaghan have no injuries, but will be missing Sean Brennan through suspension having picked up four yellow cards.

UCD come into the game on the back of a defeat to Sporting Fingal and a scoreless draw to Limerick. The goals have dried up in recent games for UCD and it will be a cause for concern for manager Martin Russell. UCD netted five times in the last six games, compared to 14 in the previous six games before that. On the flip side, they only conceded two goals in the seven matches played in May.

Extratime.ie Prediction: UCD to earn a tight 1-0 victory.
