Bluebell switch home quarter-final to Tallaght Stadium

The FAI have confirmed the details of next weekend’s FAI Cup quarter-finals including one switch of venue.

Leinster Senior League side Bluebell United will travel to Tallaght Stadium to take on Shamrock Rovers. Despite being drawn at home, the non-league side have switched the venue to Tallaght. The Bell similarly switched the tie last time out but they managed to overcome Cabinteely in Stradbrook in the second round.

Hoops Head Coach Stephen Bradley is delighted with the quarter-final draw. “If you had asked me before the draw, it's the one I would have wanted,” said Bradley to shamrockrovers.ie. “I know what Bluebell are about, I've watched them first hand and I know what (manager) Andy Noonan is doing at that club.

“He's doing some really good stuff. But if we show up and respect the game and play to our potential it's a great draw for us. It's definitely something that excites us, being two wins away from an FAI Cup final. I keep saying we need to win something, any competition and get that feeling in the group."

The Bluebell v Rovers tie, along with both the Louth Derby between Dundalk and Drogheda United and the Galway United v Limerick quarter-final, will take place on Friday 8 September with all kick offs set for 7.45pm.

The one remaining last eight tie will take place the following day with Longford Town playing Cork City in City Calling Stadium with a 7.30pm kick off.

Unlike the previous two rounds in the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup, should next weekend’s games finish level after 90 minutes, the ties will go to a replay. Should the replay be level after both the 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extratime, penalties will decide who will progress to the semi-finals.
