Rennie hopes to play for City

Cork City have suffered two defeats in their past four games failing to score in both and the search for a successor to the legendary Sean Maguire has now brought on an international dimension with a twist.

With manager John Caulfield stressing in numerous press conferences that his budget was “gone” for the season, it definitely brings a change to the normal way a player arrives at a League of Ireland club.

Dylan Rennie, 18, a striker with Collingwood United in Ontario, Canada. The 5’11” striker who can also play on the wing has been offered a trial with the club. However there is one stumbling block. He was described by his coach Neil Ovey at the time of signing for his latest club.

"Dylan possesses great ability – he is powerful, quick, and has an eye for scoring goals. He can play up front or left midfield. After talking with Dylan, it was clear to see that he has the mental toughness to come to Algoma and be part of what we aiming to achieve here for the soccer program. It also shows that we can attract players from the top leagues of Ontario. We are looking forward to working with him."

At the time of writing the player has so far raised $1,500 out of a required $5,000. He has less than two weeks to make up the rest of the money.

At the end of the day, If he doesn’t succeed at the football, he can always fall back on public speaking of which he is a champion according to his bio on Algoma University.
