STRUGGLING League of Ireland First Division club Finn Harps have been rocked with the news that leading marksman Conor Gethins has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks after dislocating his shoulder - just a fortnight before his wedding!

Former Ross County striker Gethins is set to tie the knot next weekend. At training on Tuesday night, Gethins - who has netted seven times for Harps this season - was grounded with a shoulder injury and upon examination it was confirmed that the Lifford man had suffered a dislocation Third from bottom Harps, who have won just two League games this season, are now devoid of their club captain and talisman ahead of a crucial period.

Caretaker manager James Gallagher said: “It’s a huge loss for us. It’s been very frustrating not to have players available due to injury, sickness or suspension. We’ve been trying really hard to steady the ship but it keeps on rocking- the news of Conor just doesn’t make things any easier.

“It’s very frustrating not only for us but for Conor too, he really has been looking like he was on his way back to his best."

With finances tight at the Donegal Club, getting a replacement may not be an option, though Gallagher is hopeful of organising a loan deal.

He said: "It’s definitely something that we are going to be looking at but how we’ll get around it could prove very difficult. But in saying that, we do have some very good young players like David McDaid, Oisin McMenamin and Shaun Houston who can do a good job in that area for us."
