Stephen Walsh's Betting Column (July 7 2017)

We'll keep the article short and sweet this week.

We will be hoping to raise a few quid for the Sophia Housing Association with thanks to Paddy Power for sponsoring and enhancing the bet.

Last week, we had another two out of three with the First Division again proving to be our downfall, as it has been the last three weeks.

First up in the treble we will be backing Limerick v Galway BTTS. Galway have scored in five of the last six games, with the exception of Dundalk. However Dundalk are in a different position completely to Galway so one can excuse that game. Galway are at home and one can expect them to find the back of the net.

A problem though for Galway has been conceding goals and with Tosi and Ogbene up front, both of whom are well capable of scoring a goal, it appears to be a sound bet.

Second in the bet will be Cork City to defeat St Patrick’s Athletic on Sunday. This looks a foregone conclusion going by their form this year but in the past few seasons City have suffered a European hangover after Europe, however they are a different side this year so one can expect them to claim the three points.

Lastly we will be backing Shelbourne to defeat Athlone Town. The Dublin side are favourites and have had some good performances in recent weeks, defeating both UCD and Cobh Ramblers. The young side appear to have found some good form and the poor performances at the beginning of the year appear to be behind them.
