North-west derby between Finn Harps and Derry City postponed
The north-west derby between Finn Harps and Derry City, due to be played on Friday, June 30th at Finn Park, has been postponed due to Derry's Europa League involvement.
The Candystripes travel to Denmark to take on FC Midtjylland in the first qualifying round of the Europa League on Thursday, June 29th.
A new date has not been set for the North West derby, but in a statement issued on Friday afternoon Harps said a new date would be set in due course.
The statement read: “Finn Harps Football Club have been informed by the FAI that under Clause 19.7 of the League’s Participation Agreement that their Premier Division game against Derry City scheduled for Friday 30thJune at Finn Park has been postponed to a later date.
“The club will issue a further statement on this matter in due course.”
It's not the only tie to be postponed as Cork City's meeting with Bohemians, scheduled for the same date at Turner's Cross, has been deferred due to City's Europa League tie with Levadia Tallinn.
Bohs' home game against Dundalk, due to be played on July 7th, has also been moved forward 48 hours to facilitate the Lilywhites' preparation for their Champions League qualifier with Rosenborg.
