Stephen Walsh's Betting Column - Week 15

Well now that Wexford have got off the mark I can no longer use the line at least I have had more success than them. As we now approach the 15th column of this season, we know that we have got to start hitting the winners soon.

Last Friday, we had a single winner in Galway in which one journalist backed Galway on my advice and won a few quid, so we know the tips are good it is just about getting all three to be spot on is the area we have had the difficulties with this season.

The First dDvision again proved to be a loss with Shelbourne failing to find an equaliser while Bohemians beat Bray Wanderers, who were missing Gary McCabe, 2-1 in the Carlisle grounds.

This week there is only six games to pick from as the First Division has no games for this series. We will be going with a basic three wins in the hope of finally handing over a cheque to the Sophia Housing Agency with thanks to Paddy Power who have enhanced the bet and sponsored the bet.

First up in the treble we will be going for Dundalk. They will face a Derry City side that has been inconsistent since the last time these two sides met in Buncrana when the home side emerged victorious 3-1. Much has changed since then and Dundalk is starting to play better and have yet to drop points at home this season. For this reason I will be backing them to victory at 8/15.

Second up will be Bray Wanderers to emerge victorious. They face a Drogheda United side struggling for form this season. I have seen every team play this season in person and I would rate Drogheda as the poorest side I have observed. They were lacking in all departments and for this I can see Bray taking advantage. Yes they had a slip up at home to Bohemians last week but I think they will bounce back from that and will find the necessary gaps to score the required goals to guide them to victory. They are priced at 8/11.

Last up in the treble we will go for St. Patrick’s Athletic. The Inchicore side had a shocking start to the season but since then has improved and they have had a few wins to their name as they seek about moving away from the relegation places on the table. Christy Fagan has found the net in the last few games which can always be regarded as a positive for a Pats side lacking in natural goal scorers.

Finn Harps still have a few players on the treatment table while they will miss suspended duo Killian Cantwell and Ciarán O’Connor for the home game tonight so will be at a further disadvantage. As a result we will be backing Pat’s at 11/10 to claim the three points.

Bets:

Dundalk: 8/15

Bray Wanders: 8/11

St Patrick’s Athletic: 11/10

Odds: 5.15/1
