Bohemians -v- Drogheda United
Friday night sees the televised clash of David and Goliath as Pat Fenlon’s men host Alan Matthews charges for what should prove to be an epic struggle.
Drogheda will be going into this tie with an air of confidence for the first time this season as the Boynesiders have managed to avoid defeat in their two previous games and have already more than doubled their points tally as a result.
Form
Bohemians have had the highs and lows in the last week, a 2-1 win in the EA cup somewhat glossed over a loss away to Shamrock Rovers, having taken the lead the Gypsies threw away three points allowing Gary Twigg to bag a brace and the match spoils. Drogheda’s only win so far has come on the road while Bohs home form has only seen them succumb to defeat once.
Team News
Alan Matthews will be boosted by the return of Shane Barrett who managed to come through the Dundalk game and has been slowly making his way back into the Louth side despite having been plagued with injury throughout his career.
Bohs will be without Gary Deegan, Glen Crowe and Joseph Ndo – all of whom are sidelined with hamstring injuries – and Jason McGuinness who is serving a five match suspension.
Extratime.ie Prediction: Score Draw (*NOTE: Whilst the writer of this preview sees this game as a score draw, as editor today, I can’t see this happening and would predict a 3-1 win for the Dublin side, and I am prepared to eat my hat)
