Cobh reinstated to Munster Senior Cup at Limerick's expense

Cobh Ramblers have been reinstated into the Munster Senior Cup following Limerick’s disqualification due to fielding an ineligible player during their Quarter Final tie in January.

The Munster Football Association’s Disciplinary committee found that Limerick striker Rodrigo Tosi was ineligible for selection and have decided that Limerick will forfeit the game as per the rules of the competition.

The Brazilian striker was a second half substitute for Martin Russell’s men who won the original tie at St. Colemans’s Park by a score line of 2-0 thanks to goals from Chiedozie Ogbene and Stephen Kenny.

Ramblers will now progress to the next round in Limerick’s place where they will play Cork side Wilton United, who booked their place in the semi-final after a shock 3-0 victory over Waterford.

The date for the tie is set to be announced by the MFA shortly.
