Jeff Kenna's assistant manager, Paul Peschisolido has resigned from his post following St. Pat's 2-2 draw at home to Sligo Rovers. The former Canadian International joined the Saints at the start of January this year having retired from playing a year previous.

In a statement released by the club they announced: “St.Patrick’s Athletic football club have tonight (15/05/09) accepted the resignation of assistant manager Paul Peschisolido from his post with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Paul for all his efforts and wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Goal scorer Alan Cawley confirmed that Peschisolido broke the news to the players in the changing room straight after the full-time whistle in what is officially being described as a: “Personal decision.” Cawley explained: “As soon as the manager finished the team talk at the end Paul just kind of pulled us together and explained his decision and took us all by surprise.”

Cawley recounted: “Before he started to tell us he said ‘I don’t want to put a dampener on things’ but sure that has dampened things straight away.” Adding: “Since he’s come in he’s been excellent (along) with the manager. He’s been really good around the place, he’s a really nice fella and he’s a fella who’s achieved a lot in the game so it’s disappointment to loose Paul.”

When questioned as to the reason for Peschisolido’s departure manager Jeff Kenna advised: “He explained to me the reasons why. It’s his decision, as I say it’s his decision he’s gone, I’d like to than him for all he’s done and wish him all the best in the future.”

Kenna also explained that Peschisolido had been toying with the idea for a while: “It’s been going for a couple of weeks, it was sort of bubbling away but it’s come to the forefront now and he’s made his decision.”

Kenna also stated that he will be looking to appoint a new number two with immediate effect.
