Showgrounds safe for UEFA action
UEFA this morning confirmed that Sligo Rovers will be able to play at the Showgrounds in the inaugural Europa League later this year.
After an inspection in the north-west last week, the governing body were happy that new seating has replaced old broken seats in the Jinks Avenue stand, while more new seating was put in place at the top of the Tracey Avenue stand.
There were doubts about the venue's suitability originally, but the news is a big boost for Paul Cook's men as they compete on the continental stage for the first time in well over a decade.
