Cabinteely appoint Eddie Wallace as head of recruitment
Cabinteely's preparations for the 2017 season continue apace with the appointment of Eddie Wallace as the club's head of recruitment.
Wallace will work closely with director of football Pat Devlin in a role that involves the recruitment of elite players for the Stradbrook club’s First Division and underage squads.
Wallace previously worked alongside Pat Devlin as his assistant manager with the Republic of Ireland Squad during the Four Nations Semi-Professional Tournament in 2004.
“I have known Eddie for a long time,” said Devlin.
“I am delighted to have him involved with Cabinteely. I have no doubt that between Eddie and my management team we will find a lot of talented players for Cabinteely."
Wallace, who was Athlone Town’s manager during the 2015 season, added: “I’m very happy to be involved here with Cabinteely, and I aim to help the club continue to progress forward.”
Chairman Larry Bass confirmed the club's delight at the appointment. “Eddie’s track record of spotting talent is one of the best, if not the best, in the country. His experience will be invaluable to the club. We are delighted to have him on board.”
Rated one of the top talent scouts in the country, Wallace can boast four decades of experience at a high level in Irish football.
Particularly adept at working with young players, he unearthed many top performers for his other previous clubs, which include St. Francis, Bray Wanderers, Bohemians, St. Patrick's Athletic and UCD. Former UCD striker Conor Sammon was one of his big ‘finds’.
With Graham O’Hanlon and Eddie Gormley already announced as Cabinteely first team coaches alongside player/coach Daire Doyle, the appointment of Wallace further strengthens Devlin's management team for the 2017 season.
