Athlone Town 0 - 1 U.C.D - Preview - Lineups

21:53 ...Another night of League of Ireland action over...not much drama tonight as only one side scored in all four games but certainly an important one as Paul Doolin continues on a winning run while Jeff Kenna may find that time is running out for him. The front runners in the First Division continue on their merry way too. Match reports and interviews will be online shortly and stay tuned for our Monthly Awards which are due to be announced very soon. Goodnight.

21:50 ...FULL TIME IN ATHLONE.....and UCD stay two points clear of Waterford and are six and eight clear of Sporting Fingal and Shelbourne respectively.

21:49 ...FULL TIME IN SLIGO......UCD are running down the clock now.

21:45 ...MISSED PENALTY....Another effort saved, this time in Athlone as McGuinness stops Kilduff going top of the goalscorer's charts. Not over yet in Lissywollen. Three minutes to be added on.

21:42 ...I said on Thursday that Declan Edwards was the only player on a home team to be sent off in the Premier Division. He certainly isn't now as 4 (O'Brien, Deans, Byrne, O'Grady) have now also suffered the same way this weekend. 19 red cards in total.

21:37 ...MISSED PENALTY....It probably would have been a consolation, but Stephen Parkhouse (81) has missed a penalty for Sligo, rather it was saved by Barry Murphy.

21:32 ...Conor O'Grady has received a straight red card (77) at the Showgrounds for a kick at Pat Flynn.

21:27 ... 3-0 SHAMROCK ROVERS.... a Shane Robinson penalty(70) increases the misery for the Bit O'Red. Robinson was fouled by O'Grady following an Amond through ball. Amond is really pushing for a starting place against Bohemians next week.

21:23 ...Keith Ward should have made it 2-0 for UCD but missed a great chance from 10 yards out.

21:19...FULL TIME IN RICHMOND PARK...squeaky bum time for Jeff Kenna.

21:18 ...GOAL FOR UCD....and that somewhere is Ronan Finn (62). UCD are back on top and Athlone's cause has not been helped by a sending off for Kevin Williamson who picked up two yellow cards.

21:13 ...Still 0-0 in Athlone. UCD are putting some pressure on and have had a couple of quick corners. Mulhall crosses, and the ball falls to Keith Ward but his shot runs wide. Martin Russell's men need a goal from somewhere.

21:06 ...From Richmond.....Moran down with cramp and the players are using it as a chance to get water on board. Some home fans are taking it as an opportunity to sneak off home unnoticed.

21:00 ...FULL TIME IN WATERFORD....The Blues are top of the table for the time being unless UCD can get a win in Athlone, where the second half is underway.

20:57 ...Cork have failed to add to their tally and Pat's have had a bit more possession but without any effect. Jeff Kenna claimed to have turned down the Cork job before the season started. A regret, maybe?

20:54 ...Half time in the North West and Paul Cook is another manager with a lot of work to do. Sligo will stay second bottom should it stay like this.

20:53 ...Into injury time in Waterford. There will be 180 seconds of it.

20:51 ...The chasing pack are having a great weekend in the Premier Division as it stands.

20:48 ...Some Pat's fans doing their best to keep themslves entertained by singing along to drum beat because the game has long since ended as a contest - Eoin Manning in Dublin.

20:45 ..."Sligo are playing with zero coordination" - a blunt assessment from Chris Davey. Half time in Athlone and it's still 0-0.

20:44 ...Gary Dunphy on in the closing stages for Waterford United.

20:42 ..."Denis'(Behan) touch can sometimes by like coming back off a pebbledash wall" - more insight from Alan Mathews on Setanta Sports.

20:39 ...Grincell on for Willie John Kiely in Waterford.

20:37...Gary Twigg's backheel was the instigator of the Hoops 2nd goal. Twigg and Baker were looking a good double act but the Scot is obviously capable with any partner.

20:35 ...More goals for the taking at the RSC if Waterford want them. They are only one ahead on goal difference at the moment so they may be needed.

20:33 ...Game back underway at Richmond. Will this be the last 45 minutes of Jeff Kenna's stint with St Patrick's Athletic.

20:30 ...2-0 SHAMROCK ROVERS Amond again in the 28th minute.

20:29 ...GOAL FOR WATERFORD....Another Kevin, this time Murray, doubles the now-top of the table Suirsiders advantage. A header from a corner and UCD are now in second as it stands.

20:26 ...GOAL FOR SHAMROCK ROVERS....Padraig Amond with a 25th minute tap in from close range gives the green Rovers the lead in Sligo. His second of the campaign.

20:21 ...In the First Division....Athlone Town get their first corner of the game. Onwubiko takes the corner, high into the box, but UCD clear it easily. Exciting stuff in the Midlands.

20:18 ...Half time at Richmond Park and where does Jeff Kenna begin to go about turning around his team's fortunes. A damage limitation exercise this most certainly now is.

20:11 ...RED CARD - Stuart Byrne gets a straight red card for a crude lunge on former Drogheda team mate Kudozovic and gets absolutely no sympathy from the home support as bad goes to worse goes to humiliating for St Pats.

20:15 ...GOAL FOR WATERFORD.....Second half underway in RSC and Waterford have finally taken the lead....Kevin Waters with the deadlock breaker on 55 minutes.

20:14 ...From Sligo....Greg Cameron picks up a yellow for a two-footed challenge.

20:10 ...First time Paul Doolin's men have scored more than two goals in the league this season. Fourth time Pat's have conceded a third.

20:07 ...Game on in Sligo and first chance goes to Shamrock Rovers. Robinson lets fly with a shot but Brush makes a great save. The lineups are in as well.

20:05 ...3-0 Cork City A stunning effort from Faz Kudozovic who curls past Rogers to pretty much ensure the three points will be going south this evening. A camera focused on Sadlier now would make for interesting viewing. An hour to go.

20:03 ...A pat on the back to himself from Mathews this time after a conversation on Dan Connor's Waterford career ends with a "Longford retained the Cup that year" statement from the former Cork City boss.

20:00 ...Athlone - UCD underway in Lissywollen.

19:57 ...Nearly underway in the 8pm kick-offs. Teams from the game at the Showgrounds will be available in the next few minutes.

19:55 ...Kyle Moran booked for St Pats.

19:52 ...Half time in Waterford and its 0-0.

19:50 ...TWO NIL CORK CITY...a Greg O'Halloran (19) header from another Colin Healy corner........two set pieces, two goals, three minutes....can The Supersaints respond.

19:49 ...Cries of "Sacked in the morning" ring out from the travelling fans at Richmond.....one wonders with Cork dominating so far will he even last till the morning.

19:47 ...Drogheda United manager Alan Mathews is providing commentary on the live game and wonders whether Denis Behan would have had a fiver on himself to score first. Surely not Alan.

19:46 ...GOAL FOR CORK...Gary Rogers makes a mess of a Colin Healy corner and Denis Behan is on hand to knock in his third league goal on 16 minutes.....1-0 Cork City.

19:42 ...Paul McCarthy has gone off injured to be replaced by Kieron Fitzpatrick in more worrying news for the Blues. Half chances galore but no net bulging as of yet.

19:41 ...From Richmond...Poor goal kick from Gary Rogers falls to feet of Faz Kuduzovic but his shot from distance flies harmlessly wide.

19:40 ...Nearly half-time in the RSC and still no breakthrough for the home side. It would be only the third time Kildare have not been behind at half-time were it to stay that way.

19:33 ...Game on in Richmond Park and both teams are available by clicking on the link above.

19:23 ...Three decent chances for Waterford United so far. Kiely, Waters and Paul McCarthy but it still remains scoreless at the RSC.

19:15 ....Fifteen minutes to kick off in Inchicore. Eoin Manning is in Richmond Park and will keep us posted on all that happens there. Cork City have been single goal victors in all six of their League wins to date. Interesting to some, handy betting information to others. You choose. Still 0-0 at the RSC.

19:00 ....Game on in Waterford and teams are being inputted as we speak. Waterford unchanged from their win over Mervue United. Kildare make two changes, one being the introduction of new signing Dean Lawrence formerly of Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne.

18:53 ....You wait for one and four come along at once. Fours draws last night in the First Division after a run of three in six rounds of games. Surely tonight's games will produce at least one winner.

18:36 ....As soon as we have teams in from the RSC I will let you know. Dean Hayes is in place and may well see some goals tonight. Kildare have conceded an average of nearly four goals a game on their travels and Willie John Kiely and Graham Cummins already have 14 league goals between them. Not a night to be The Thoroughbreds 'keeper I fear.

18:26 ....Don't be shy and feel free to comment on any aspect of our coverage or put forward your thoughts on tonight games, or indeed last night's events, either below or be emailing us at extratimelive@gmail.com.
Topics for discussion include:
The re-opening of the title race at the Brandywell last night.
Are Drogheda United about to confound all following their first win last night?
Can Richie Sadlier afford to keep faith with Jeff Kenna should they lose tonight?
Is Sean Connor's message to Dundalk fans well-timed or ill-advised?
Is Mervue United's draw with Sporting Fingal the shock result of the season?
Anything you want to comment on feel free to do so.

18:18 ....Two games as well in the Premier Division, with much of the attention focusing on Jeff Kenna and his under-fire St Pat's side who entertain Cork City, who themselves have a lot to play for and could go level on points with Bohemians with a win. In the North West, we have the meeting of the Rovers, as Sligo look to escape the bottom three while Michael O'Neill's Hoops have a big chance to close the gap on the top three who appear to be moving clear of the rest of the pack........An interesting night's action in store.

18:10 ...Good evening from extratime Live Updates. 50 minutes till kick-off in the first tie of the evening as Waterford will look to take advantage of slip ups by both Shelbourne and Sporting Fingal and open up a gap at the top of the First Division. Waterford will go top if they beat Kildare but it could be short-lived as UCD will be looking to hold on to their position with a win against Athlone Town, who they beat in the EA Sports Cup on Monday.
