Pat Devlin appointed Cabinteely manager and director of football
Cabinteely have announced the appointment of Pat Devlin as the club’s new director of football and first team manager.
News of Devlin’s appointment on a three-year-deal broke at a news conference held by the club earlier today where chairman Eddie Bass was in attendance alongside the 63-year-old.
Speaking on Devlin’s appointment, Bass said: “I have known Pat Devlin for quite a while now and I have admired his work as a coach and manager down through the years.
“I have also admired his style of play, his ability to get the best out of teams he has managed as well as his success at unearthing and nurturing new talent in the game.
“Cabinteely FC may be young in terms of League of Ireland football but our plans and ambitions for the future are well grounded and we are looking forward to working with Pat to ensure that those plans and ambitions are fulfilled.”
The Stradbrook outfit will be Devlin’s fourth role as a League of Ireland manager, having taken charge of Bray Wanderers, Drogheda United and Athlone Town previously, while also having filled the Director of Football role at Shamrock Rovers and more recently with UCD.
Devlin has been working at UCD alongside manager Collie O’Neill for the past two seasons in the director of football capacity, a term which has seen the Students reach the First Division promotion play-offs on two occasions
“I would like to thank UCD FC for their co-operation in me taking up this appointment,” Devlin said upon taking the job with Cabo.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of Director of Football at Cabinteely FC and in particular to working with their young players in the First Team.
“Obviously, I have been very aware of the progress of the club at all levels since it was founded but I am very impressed with where they want to take the club both from a football point of view and on a community basis.
“My priority now will be to retain players, recruit new ones and then to work with the club officials and the backroom team on pre -season in preparation for the new SSE Airtricity League which starts at the end of February.”
