Flood dissappointed with cup exit
Speaking with extratime.ie , Shelbourne striker Anto Flood was pleased with how his side matched Bohemians in tonight’s loss, however, disappointed that his side’s exit is largely down to preventable goals.
“In the first half we didn’t perform but in the second half we showed a lot of character. I thought we played a good game and I thought we should have won it. We had our chances there to win it. We matched them all over the park, but, we gave away four easy goals. You’re not going to win anything doing that,” he said.
With results falling the way they have, the remaining First Division sides have a good chance of winning the EA Sports League Cup, and Flood was aware of that when he was forced to watch much of the game from the sidelines due to an injury in the first half.
“It would have been nice, we had a good chance with this,” said Flood, whose forty second minute substitution was no doubt of worry to the travelling Shels support.
Flood appeared to go over on his knee after half an hour and struggled to play on afterwards. “Its not too bad. I landed awkwardly from a throw in and I just heard a pop in my knee. Then I got up and it was alright for a couple of minutes and played on. But I turned in again and it was stinging me so I came off then.”
It is as yet unclear the extent of his injury.
