Trehy Announced New Peas Boss

Peamount United have announced Pat Trehy as the club’s new Women’s National League Manager following the departure of Christy Lougheed from the Dublin side earlier this month.

Trehy steps into the role as Manager after being part of Lougheed’s backroom team in recent times.

Trehy, who had experience working as an assistant and goalkeeping coach is delighted to be taking on the role in Greenogue.

“I am delighted to take over as manager of Peamount United, but it is bittersweet taking over from my friend and mentor Christy Lougheed, who unfortunately took the decision to step down for personal reasons.”

The former Bray Wanderers goalkeeper has revealed his backroom staff that will assists him during his time at the Peas helm.

“I am looking forward to getting stuck into my new role and continuing the excellent progress we have in the past 18 months and I’m delighted to have both James O’Callaghan and Vinnie Patterson alongside me on this journey.”

A recent dip in form has seen Trehy’s charges fall to fourth in the league table as well as being eliminated from the Women’s FAI Cup at the semi-final stage.  However, the new Peas boss remains confident of achieving glory with his new side this term.

“We have six games remaining this season and we are still in a very strong position in the league, just five points behind the leaders with a game in hand so it is important we keep a strong tight bond amongst our squad and continue fight until the last game of the short season. The players are up for the challenge and so are the management team.”

Trehy was quick to assure the current crop of Peas of their futures after worries emerged amongst the players following Lougheed’s departure.

“After Christy had to step down, the players were unsure of the future, but we assured them that nothing was going to change and we keep going as a team and we stay together as a unit.”

Trehy also took the opportunity to thanks the Peamount board for entrusting him with the position while there was also a special word for his skipper.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peamount United and its board for giving me this opportunity and having faith in the system we have built. I would also like to thank our captain Clare Kinsella for pushing me to take up this role at such an iconic women’s football club and I look forward to our next Women’s National League outing against Kilkenny United on October 29th at Greenogue.”

Peamount United have also recently brought Kelly’s Texaco on board as new jersey sponsors and have thanked them for their support.
