League of Ireland stars help to launch FIFA 17

EA sports held a promotional event for their eagerly awaited new release, FIFA 17 at the Aviva Stadium today. 

The game which is set for release at midnight tonight, features all 12 Airtricity League Premier Division teams.  

EA Sports have held the rights to virtually represent the League of Ireland for the past nine seasons. 

Irish fans across the country can download the case sleeve of their favourite club for free when the game fully launches. In addition to the personalised box art, League of Ireland fans can also download FIFA 17 phone and tablet wallpapers along with Twitter and Facebook backgrounds for their favourite clubs.

 A player representative of each club was present to take part in a photoshoot and interviews with journalists around the country, in an attempt to advertise not only the game, but also the league.

We caught up with Shamrock Rovers Bradon Miele who said that the promotional aspect of the league is important, “It’s great for the league, and the players in general… I definitely think it can help the league [promotionally].” 

Dundalk’s exploits in Europe this season have raised the profile of the league, and this has been reflected in the new FIFA, the Dundalk team contains 5 silver rated players, which is a first for the league. 

One man who was particularly happy with his rating is Bray Wanderers Dylan Connolly. Connolly is rated at a 61 overall, however his ‘pace’ stats are quite astonishing, at 91, he is up there with some of the quickest players in the game. Connolly said “Ah its good yeah to see that [his rating], I’m going to go home now and transfer myself to Real Madrid for €100 million”. 

The game which has undergone a massive graphics re-haul in recent years is set to be one of the highest selling games of 2017. Fans can pick up the game tonight/tomorrow morning at 12a.m in retailers across the country as many stores offer a midnight release, the game will also be available for downloadable purchase at 12a.m. Slightly less eager gamers can pick up the game tomorrow, Thursday 29th of September.
