Galway United extend sponsorship deal with Comer Group
The Comer Group have agreed to continue their sponsorship of Galway United for a further three seasons. The development giants, controlled by brothers Brian and Luke Comer, have been the main sponsors for the past three years and their continued support will bring a vital element of stability to the club.
Today's announcement is a source of great excitement to all here at the football club,” said Galway United chairman Jonathan Corbett, welcoming the deal. "
“The Comer Brothers have enabled Galway United to gain a real foothold in the national game. Luke and Brian have been the greatest of friends to the club and its supporters. This agreement now allows us to plan for the future with the greatest confidence."
The Comer Group own the spectacular Palmerstown House Estate in Kildare and are major supporters of Irish racing in addition to their Galway united commitments.
All League of Ireland clubs need a 'blue chip' sponsor, or should at least should be striving for one, as this gives the project sustainability. Attracting sponsors of the calibre of the Comers allows League if Ireland clubs to get out of the 'boom and bust' cycle that has had a stranglehold on the game for generations.
“The Comer Brothers' generous sponsorship has been the critical factor in the revitalisation of the Galway senior soccer dream," reads a club statement. "The new sponsorship deal will enable the club to chart a path towards becoming a serious contender for national honours."
This positive news will give an added impetus to Galway United as a club and perhaps bring a new buzz to Deacy Park, where results have been mixed of late.
