Mickey Place signs contract extension with Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers have today announced that striker Mikey Place has signed a contract which will see him stay at the Showgrounds for the 2017 season with an option to then extend the contract until the end of the 2018 season.

The teenager, who came through Sligo Rovers underage system, is the ninth player to sign for Dave Robertson's side for the 2017 season, joining Micheal Schlingermann, Craig Roddan, Gary Boylan, Kieran Sadlier, Gary Armstrong, Daniel Kearns, Raff Cretaro and Tobi Adebayo-Rowling.

Place, who signed his first professional contract in January, made his first team debut as a late substitute in a 1-1 draw away to St. Pat's in April and has gone on to make five appearances for the first team this season.

The Galway born forward has also featured heavily for the Bit o'Red's U19 side this season, scoring 12 goals.
