Schlingermann commits to Sligo for two more years
Sligo Rovers have announced that goalkeeper Micheal Schlingermann has signed a new contract which will keep the Mayo man at the Showgrounds until the end of the 2018 season.
Schlingermann returned for a second stint at the Bit o' Red at the start of the 2015 season after being named the leagues number one goalkeeper during his time at relegated Drogheda United.
Manager Dave Robertson shared his delight at securing the signature of Schlingermann, identifying him as a key part of the club’s future.
“I am over the moon with this signing,” Robertson told the club's website.
“Micheál is a key part of the project we have going on here. Moving forward we know what Micheál is capable of bringing to us.
“Goalkeeper is a massive position in any team and it important to have that secured.
“He has proven this year his value to the team with his performances, particularly in some of the key games we have had. He will definitely be a key part of the future of this team.
“Getting players committed to longer contracts is what we are looking to do here. With it we can go into the next season in as strong a position as possible.
“When you have proven players like Micheal is makes sense to get them signed. It is great for the players and the supporters to know what we want for the future.”
Schlingermann is the sixth player to commit their long term future to the Bit O'Red after Gary Boylan, Kieran Sadlier, Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, Gary Armstrong and Daniel Kearns signed on the dotted line until the end of next season.
Schingermann has been in great from for Sligo this season, making 25 appearances and keeping 9 clean sheets along the way. The 25 year-old Mayo man passed the 150 career appearances mark earlier this season.
