League Preview: Longford Town -v- St Patrick's Athletic
LONGFORD TOWN
Gary Cronin will take charge of the match against St. Patrick’s Athletic on Monday night at The City Calling Stadium after the resignation of the League’s longest serving manager, Tony Cousins. The Town will be happy to be at home after drawing their previous two home games with Sligo Rovers and Galway United respectively.
ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC
St Patrick’s Athletic travel to the Midlands on Monday night for their second SSE Airtricity League game in four days as they face Longford Town (kick-off 8pm). The Saints will be looking to make it two wins on the trot following Friday’s 1-0 home win over Galway United thanks to Christy Fagan’s first half strike.
Liam Buckley when speaking to the club’s website had the following to say: “Friday was an important win for us as it hopefully gets us up and running now for this last series of fixtures in the league. We’ve had little time though to rest on our laurels as we have a quick turnaround into the Longford game.
“Longford really put it up to us the last day out in Richmond Park and the 3-3 draw could have easily ended either way. We are fully aware of their threats and we are always given a strong test from Longford judging by games in the past. We’ve a few bodies back though from injury so we’ll be heading to Longford to try and get the three points.”
