Drogheda United sign Richie Purdy on loan

Drogheda United have completed the loan signing of a second Shamrock Rovers player during the mid-season transfer window with the signing of Richie Purdy.

Following on from the signing of forward Gareth McCaffrey, midfielder Purdy has now signed on loan for Pete Mahon's side until the end of the season.

18-year-old Purdy joined Rovers' under-19 side ahead of the 2013/14 season from St. Kevin's Boys. In his first season at Rovers, he played for both the Hoops' U19 and First Division sides before moving on loan to Cabinteely in 2015, making ten appearances for the First Division side.

Purdy has now moved to Drogheda, joining Rovers teammate McCaffrey along with fellow new signings Kevin Farragher and John McKeown as the Boynesiders' look to push for promotion back to the top flight. The midfielder may make his Drogheda debut on Friday evening against his former club, Cabinteely.
