League Report: Athlone Town 0 - 2 Cobh Ramblers

A goal in each half gave Cobh Ramblers a valuable 2-0 away win against troubled Athlone Town at Lissywollen.

Colin Fortune and Mick Dolan took charge of a much-changed Athlone team following the recent departure of Alan Mathews as manager.

Fielding a number of their under-19 squad, the home side started well and carved out the first two chances. A header was wide and a 25 yard free kick was saved by Hunt.

Cobh Ramblers took the lead in the 40th minute. Top scorer Shane O’Connor shot home from an Ian Mylod cross.

Ramblers were two-up early in the second half when striker Stephen Christopher scored their second on 56 minutes.
