LOI mid-season friendly games list

 

Players by now have returned to training for their clubs and will be stepping up their preperations for the second half of the 2016 campaign, and there is no better way for a manager to gauge the fitness levels of his charges than by putting them through their paces in a proper game.

 

That's the view of Galway United manager Tommy Dunne anyway. His side will face Shelbourne in Tolka Park on Sunday, June 19th (kick-off 2pm) as they build up to their Premier Division fixture against Bohemians the following Friday. Tickets for the friendly are €5 for adults and free in for under 14s and senior citizens.

 

“Shelbourne will provide us with a competitive fixture, which we need,” Dunne told galwayunitedfc.ie. “We’ve been training since Monday and the Shelbourne game will stand us in good stead in the lead up to another tough week of training and the Bohemians game.”

 

Elsewhere, Derry City will travel to Mourneview Park to take on Glenavon on Friday, June 17th (kick-off 7:30 pm) in what is a pre-season game for the Irish League side as Glens boss Gary Hamilton makes his preparations for the new campaign. 

 

For Kenny Shiels, it is about fine-tuning his Candystripes squad as they seek to maintain the form which sees them sitting in fourth place in the Premier Division. Tickets for this one are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, with primary school kids getting in for free with a paying adult.

 

The last friendly we know of involving League of Ireland sides this weekend also takes place on Sunday, June 19th. Runaway First Division leaders Limerick travel to the Showgrounds where they will take on Premier Division Sligo Rovers (kick-off 4pm). Tickets for this one are €10 per adult and €5 for concessions, while under 16s accompanied by an adult will be let in free of charge.

 

Martin Russell will be hoping the break did his unbeaten charges good as they seek to make sure of promotion as soon as possible, the Blues already boasting a 17 point cushion at the top of the First Division. For Dave Robertson, he will be looking for signs that his players are ready to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Finn Harps before the break.

 

Cabinteely were due to play Longford Town at the Leixlip Amenity Centre but that game has now been CANCELLED.
