FAI Cup Report: Ringmahon Rangers 2 - 1 Glebe North

Ringmahon Rangers are through to the Third Round of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup following a 2-1 victory over Dublin side Glebe North in Ringmahon Park on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from former Cork City forward Paul Deasy and former Cobh Ramblers midfielder Roy Kenny were enough to secure a place in the next round for the Munster Senior League Division 1 outfit.

After edging the opening half exchanges, Ringmahon took the lead early in the second half. Following a good ball by Patrick O’Brien, Deasy controlled well and finished to the bottom corner inside the area.

Glebe, who had posed a threat through counter attacks, were reduced to ten men when referee John McNamara issued Anthony Burke a straight red card with over a half an hour left to play.

Ringmahon doubled their lead shortly after thanks to an excellent volley from Kenny that beat Potter in the Glebe goal.

With just over 20 minutes to go, Glebe pulled a goal back when Ciaran O’Connor scored from the edge of the box. The visitors applied the pressure in search of an equaliser but they failed to find a way past the Ringmahon defence.

The home side, despite having Derek O’Sullivan sent off for a second yellow, saw the game out and they now can look forward to the third round in August.
