League Preview: Waterford United -v- Cobh Ramblers
For the second time this season Waterford United will make an effort to host Cobh Ramblers at the RSC on Monday evening when the game, weather permitting, will kick off at 7.45pm.
WATERFORD UNITED
The Blues shared the points in Westmeath on Friday night as they played out a 3-3 draw with their hosts Athlone Town.
Whilst they maintained their impressive record in front of goal without the services of Philip Gorman there must be some concerns for Roddy Collins after he witnessed his side crumble in the second half this past Friday night.
Admittedly, the red card received needlessly for an off the ball altercation by Eoin Rhodes a minute before half-time, with the score at 3-1 to the Blues, was a key point in the game and Collins’ side never managed to recover after the break with the man disadvantage.
Goalkeeper Corey Chambers limped off in the second half against Athlone and will be a doubt for the match with Cobh. This is a tough break for the Blues who have already lost Kevin Burns for three weeks due to working commitments. Matthew Sheehan came off the bench to replace Chambers in Athlone and he will be between the sticks for Waterford should Chambers prove to be unfit to face Ramblers.
Collins will hope to have Philip Gorman back to lead the line following his absence against his former club Athlone, but Roddy Collins himself will be in the stands again as he continues to serve a six match suspension.
Aaron O’Connor remain out for the Blues and Roddy Collins Jr and Yohann Fellrath continue to seek registration clearance.
COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh got back to winning ways in Dublin on Friday night when they beat struggling Cabinteely at Stradbrook.
Stephen Henderson brought former Waterford United man, Cory Galvin back into the starting XI and his decision paid off with Galvin netting the winner which ended a run of four matches without a win.
Henderson will have to get his defensive selection spot on against a Waterford United side who have impressed in front of goal this term and he will have to do so with injury concerns to defenders Kevin Mulcahy, James Furlong, Anthony O'Donnell, Adam O'Sullivan and Ben O'Riordan who are all doubtful for the clash.
