Extratime.ie announces Player/Manager of the Month Awards
Extratime.ie is delighted to announce the winners of their inaugural Player/Manager of the Month Awards for March.
Bohemians' midfielder Joseph Ndo has been named by extratime.ie as their Premier Division Player of the Month for March. The Cameroonian international was a star performer for the Gypsies during the month, scoring a debut goal to seal all three points for Bohs on the opening night against Dundalk, before playing a starring role in the Dublin derby victory over Shamrock Rovers. He was also involved in the build up to Anto Murphy’s decisive strike against Drogheda and has clearly added to the champion’s creative abilities.
Galway United manager Ian Foster is the first recipient of the extratime.ie Premier Division Manager of the Month award after he led his young side to two wins and two draws from their four games during March. Galway were most people’s favourites for relegation at the start of the season, but a shock 3-0 away win over St Patrick’s Athletic on the opening night was followed by a home win against Dundalk and draws with Bray Wanderers and Sligo Rovers.
Speaking after receiving the award, Foster was pleased with his team’s hard working start to the season.
“It’s a great honour. This is something that the team deserves, not just me. We’ve had a great start to the season and hopefully we can continue it.”
“I think what we’ve done is tried to take each game at its merits and we’ve deserved to get the points we have out of each game.”
“In that respect we’re not in a false position, we deserve to have nine points on the board because we’ve worked really hard for them. Hopefully I can get another one (award) before the end of the season.”
In the First Division, UCD manager Martin Russell was named by extratime.ie as March Manager of the Month after he guided his side to a maximum 12 points which was good enough to see his young side end the month at the top of the table. One of the key reasons for their success was the good form shown by Player of the Month Ciaran Kilduff, who found the net five times, scoring in all four of his side’s opening games.
