League of Ireland Attendances - Gameweek 3
There was no First Division action In Gameweek 3 as six Premier Division games made up the Monday evening matches. Midweek fixtures traditionally mean a drop in attendances and that was no different this time around. The only club to increase their attendance from their Gameweek 1 numbers was St. Patrick’s Athletic. There was a 6% increase on their match total.
Compared to Week 1, Cork City’s attendance was down 43% from Gameweek 1. Sligo Rovers was 32% down. Finn Harps was 51% down. Wexford Youths was 27% down whilst, we didn’t get an official attendance from Bray, our estimate for Monday was 82% lower than the opening week.
With three weeks gone, the average attendances for the Premier has gone from 2,598 (Week 1) to 2.006 (Week 2) to 1,529 (Week 3). It will be hoped the figures will be back up for Gameweek 4 as the games once again take place on the weekend.
