Hoops kick off season of TV coverage

The visit of Shamrock Rovers to league champions Drogheda United will kick-off a season of live television coverage for the eircom League of Ireland. Drogheda United host the Hoops on the opening weekend of the 2008 season and the RTE Two cameras will be in United Park to broadcast the action live.

 

The Drogheda United – Shamrock Rovers fixture will now take place on Saturday March 8th, with a kick-off time of 5.30pm, instead of the originally scheduled date of Friday March 7th.

 

RTE Two will broadcast a live match on each of the opening three weekends of eircom League of Ireland action. On Friday March 14th the cameras will be in Dalymount Park to witness Bohemians take on their city rivals St. Patrick’s Athletic (kick-off 7.35pm), while the following Friday (March 21st) RTE Two viewers will be able to watch Cork City take on Derry City at Turner’s Cross (kick-off 7.35pm).

 

The first three matches to be broadcast live will see six of the clubs tipped to push for honours compete against each other in what will be an exciting start to the television coverage of the 2008 season.
