Preview: St Patricks Athletic vs Galway Utd
Saint Patrick’s Athletic will be looking to continue their flawless start to the season as Galway United make the trip to Richmond Park for the 7.45pm kick off.
Saint Pat’s will be without the suspended Dessie Byrne and Barry Ryan who were both sent off against Bohemians last week. Ryan Guy who was dropped for that game will be likely to replace Dessie Byrne while veteran midfielder Alan Kirby is also vying for a start.
Pat’s manager John McDonnell will be unlikely to make any other changes as he looks to stick with the winning formula that has raised expectations around Inchicore as the season begins to exit its infancy.
Galway grabbed their first point of the season against Cobh Ramblers last week and will be looking to build on that with a solid performance tonight against the title contenders.
Galway are missing Alan Keane (knee), Ciaran Foley (shin), and Stephen O'Flynn (groin) and Jonathan Keane and Cathal Fahy have been drafted into the squad as cover for the Tribesmen. 'We have a little bit more competition so fellas have to perform,' said Galway boss Tony Cousins. 'That is the way it will be this year. I have a bunch of fellas who are prepared to give everything.' He added: 'It doesn't matter who you are playing in this league, but to come back from a goal down shows me character.'
The last time Galway travelled to Inchicore, they came away with a 2-1 victory so Pat’s will be on their guard tonight.
