Underage international Sadlier signs for Sligo

Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of former Ireland under-21 player Kieran Sadlier from Peterborough United.

Sadlier, who has played with West Ham United, Halifax Town and Scottish Premiership side St Mirren, has signed a deal until the summer.

The 21-year-old's move to the Showgrounds reunites him with manager Dave Robertson, who signed him for Peterborough less than a year ago.

“Kieran is a player that I do rate very highly,” Robertson told the club's website.

“He is a very exciting players and is a versatile attacker. He will come here with a very good footballing pedigree.

“He is someone that I know very well and I have enjoyed working with him in the past. He will be an excellent signing for us for 2016.

“He’s an attack-minded midfield player that can play on either wing. He’s comfortable taking the ball into feet in tight spaces. He’s also got great pace and is six feet tall so is physically strong too.

“He’ll be a big threat for us and is another one who adds strength to our attacking options, he will help us play with the attacking flair that I want.

“He learned a lot at West Ham and experienced a lot and then he came to get a taste of league football with myself at Peterborough.

“He’s coming to Sligo now and I think it will be a great career move for him and is great signing for the club. When the fans get to see him play they will be really excited.

“I still think that he can go on to play at a very high level. He is exciting and full of potential. I think that this move can help catapult his career and go on to play at a high level again.”

Sadlier is the eighth player announced on Sligo Rovers' playing roster for 2016.
