St. Patrick's Athletic are counting the cost of victory against Dundalk on Friday after it was revealed both Gary Dempsey and Mark Leech suffered leg breaks during the game.

Gary Dempsey, who was playing his second game since returning from a two match suspension, suffered a bad tear to ligaments on his ankle and sustained a broken fibula. Dempsey underwent corrective surgery and is expected to be out until July or August.

Mark Leech, who scored the first of St.Pat's two goals against Dundalk, suffered a break just above his right ankle. Surgery was also required and he will be out for the same length as Dempsey.

St Pat’s club physio Mick Spillane commented, "In my 20 years of sports experience, I have never encountered two lower leg breaks in the same game and from the same team, it is highly unusual and very unfortunate".

St. Pat's currently lie in third place in the league, and are unbeaten in three games since their opening day loss to Galway United.
