WNL Report: Galway WFC 5 - 0 Castlebar Celtic

Galway WFC maintained their 100% start in the Women’s National League when they recorded back to back victories for the first time since December 2013 by defeating Castlebar Celtic by five goals to nil at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday evening.

Don O’Riordan made just one alteration to his side that defeated Peamount United on the opening weekend with Chloe Moloney replacing Lucy Hannon and the fans at Eamonn Deacy Park where forced to wait until the 48th minute for the game's opening goal when Aislinn Meaney sent the Tribeswomen into the lead.

Less than ten minutes after opening the scoring, Meaney doubled her side lead with her second goal of the game and with 63 minutes on the clock, Savannah McCarthy in just her second start for her club found the net to open to her account for the Galway side.

With little over 20 minutes remaining, Lynsey McKey was next to get in on the act when she fired Galway into a four nil lead and the midfielder completed the scoring in injury time when she converted from the penalty spot.

In their next league outing, Galway WFC will travel to Buckley Park in search of a third straight victory against winless Kilkenny United, while Castlebar Celtic will host Cork City Women at Celtic Park.
