League Report: Sligo Rovers 3 - 2 Bray Wanderers
In an entertaining match between Sligo Rovers and Bray Wanderers at the Showgrounds it was the home side who came out on top by the odd goal in five.
It was Rovers who started the better with Sander Puri and Dinny Corcoran having early chances to put the Bit O'Red ahead however it was Bray who drew first blood. With 27 minutes on the clock Chris Lyons fired Bray into the lead after Sligo failed to deal with a corner kick.
Within sixty seconds Dinny Corcoran had Rovers level after he picked up Morten Neilsen’s ball and comfortably slotted past Peter Cherrie into the back of the net.
This spurred Rovers on and only for an excellent save from Bray keeper Cherrie, the home side would have been two one up at half time.
Whatever Micky Adams said to his Rovers team at half time had an immediate effect. Three minutes after the restart, Man of the Match Sander Puri scored Rovers second. The Estonian International met a cross from Jennison Myrie-Williams to power home and give his side the lead.
Sligo extended their lead on 74 minutes. Danish forward Neilsen latched onto a David Cawley pass before shooting past Cherrie in the Bray goal.
Bray Wanderers responded and stepped up the pressure with Ryan McEvoy and Graham Kelly both having good opportunities to reduce Rovers lead.
Brays persistence paid off two minutes into added time when David Scully found space in the Rovers box and slotted the ball into the bottom corner but it was too little too late as Rovers took all three points to move to ninth in the league.
