We at extratime.ie will be providing a regular look and analysis of statistics from this year's FAI League of Ireland.

Starting XI and Subs

Galway United and Shamrock Rovers are the only two clubs who have fielded the same starting line-up for the first three weeks. Cian McBrien was named as a sub for Galway United at Richmond Park, but a late injury saw him take Dave Cooke's place, and he hasn't look back since.
Dessie Baker, Vinny Faherty, Faz Kudozovic, and Mark Farren have all been replaced in all three games.
Graham Carey, Declan Edwards, Alan Murphy, Robbie Farrell, Tiarnan Mulvenna, and Tadgh Purcell have all been introduced as subs in every game their team has played in to date.

Goalscoring

Of the 27 goals scored to date, one has been a free-kick (Killian Brennan vs Derry) while there have been four penalties.
The average number of goals scored per game is 1.80. Galway United are the most entertaining team to date with an average of 2.67 goals in the games they have played.
Four goals have been scored from outside the 18-yard box; Brennan's free-kick against Derry, Derek O'Brien and Cian McBrien for Galway Utd on their travels, and Thomas Stewart's opener at Dalymount Park for Derry City.
League leaders Galway United have become noticeably better at capitalising from dead-ball situations. Half of their six goal tally has resulted from either corners or free-kicks delivered into the area by Jay O'Shea.
Of the 27 goals so far, seven(26%) have come in the last 15 minutes. Cork City have fared worst in this period, conceding three while netting one in their game up in Sligo. For a team that has taken the lead twice, a one point is a far from healthy start.

Discipline

Derek O'Brien, George O'Callaghan, Stephen Rice, and Pat Sullivan have all managed to pick up two yellow cards this early in the season. Dundalk's Simon Kelly also got two, but they were followed by a red as his two fouls on Derek O'Brien forced Mark Gough to produce a red.
Conor Kenna became the second recipient of a red card at the weekend for his deliberate handball. Anthony Buttimer was left with little choice but to dismiss the defender.
