Wexford Youths Women agree sponsorship deal with Energia

Wexford Youths have today announced that Energia will continue as the club’s main sponsor for the 2015-16 Women’s National League campaign.

Energia one of Ireland’s largest energy suppliers first came on board with the Wexford outfit at the beginning of last season and they have now decided to continue their successful relationship as Youths aim to defend the Women’s National League title which they won for the first time last season.

After finishing second in their recent UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying group and failing to qualify for the last 32, today’s announcement comes as a huge boost for Youths, with their Women’s National League Shield campaign beginning next Saturday when they host UCD Waves at Ferrycarrig Park.

Speaking after the announcement, a delighted Youths General Manager Laura Heffernan said the new agreement was a huge boost for her side as having such a big company on-board does not happen often.

“The deal with Energia will bring a whole new level to the professionalism expected from within our club. A deal with such a huge company with high brand appeal does not come along very often and we appreciate the support of Energia for our bid to retain our Continental Women’s National League title this season.

“Each player and member of the backroom team will benefit from this support and we all look forward to building a strong link through some interesting promotional opportunities.”

A delighted Youths Head Coach Willie Doyle is happy to see such a huge brand commit to Wexford Youths, as it allows his side to concentrate on playing football without having to worry about the off field financial burdens.

“The financial burden that is lifted from securing a main sponsor will help the team to focus on the football aspect of their involvement in the club. This deal should enable us to mount a serious challenge this season to retain our Continental Women’s National League title and give us another opportunity to compete in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

“It is our responsibility as a club to ensure that Energia receive value for their investment and we will endeavour to surpass their expectations on all fronts.”

Energia Key Account Manager Michael Nugent was delighted to announce a deal with Wexford Youths as his company sees the continuing growth of women’s sport and they aim to use Social Media channels to help create a support base for Wexford Youths.

“As a brand, Energia is growing rapidly.  We know women’s sport is huge and this is a great opportunity to support participation in sport and the maintenance of healthy lifestyles. Wexford Youths Women’s team is an ideal sponsorship partner as the players involved act as incredible role models and have shown that we, as a nation, can compete on a European stage. We are also delighted to align ourselves with the future of the International Women’s Senior squad as hopefully the five Wexford Youths Women’s FC players who received their first Senior caps last season will go on to represent Ireland for years to come.

“We will also help develop the supporter base of the club by running online and social media competitions through our channels as part of the package.”
