Shannon Carson and Ciara Desmond the latest to commit to Cork City Women

Cork City Women have today announced the latest two additions to their Women’s National League squad with the news that Shannon Carson and Ciara Desmond have both committed to the Leesiders.

Shannon Carson an Ireland U19 international, was an ever present in the Cork side during the 2014-15 season and her on-field displays saw her recognised by her peers when she was shortlisted for the Continental Tyres Women’s National League Young Player of the Year.

Speaking after today’s announcement Carson told Corkcitywomensfc.com that she cannot wait to get started this weekend in the Women’s FAI Cup - after a very professional pre-season from the new City management.

"I'm delighted to have signed with Cork City and look forward to playing in the national league again this season. The entire set up in pre-season has been very professional - it's clear the management deserve praise for this as it has started to filter down right through the squad at every training session.

“I'm looking forward to playing with and against quality players on a weekly basis and I can't wait for our opening game against Shelbourne U18's this Saturday."

Ciara Desmond re-joins Cork City Women for the second time after a short spell with her previous club Douglas Hall and the winger is looking forward to playing against some of the country’s best stars after being afforded the opportunity to re-join the City squad.

"I am delighted to be asked to play with Cork City. The set up this year is something else - it's been really impressive. I'm so happy to be a part of this team and I am looking forward to what will potentially be a great season for us.

“Pre-season has been really enjoyable so far, Niall & his team have been excellent and being surrounded by so many of Cork’s best players it is great with really good quality, high tempo and a great buzz around the club. We can't wait for the first game to roll around".
