Alan Mathews and his squad this evening left Cork for a pre-season training camp in Spain. The team will spend the next six days in Marbella at the Marpafut Professional Football Training Centre where they will stay at the Gran Hotel Benahavis. The team will train twice a day and play two friendly matches against German and Swiss opposition. First up, the Rebel Army will face German side SpVgg Unterhaching on Sunday at 11 am, while Wednesday afternoon will see City face Swiss opposition in FC Laufen at 4 p.m.

The City boss told CorkCityFC.ie that the squad intend to make the most of the trip: “It will be a welcome change from the rigours of pre –season training here in Ireland. The facilities that we will have over in Spain are excellent and we have two good matches organised out there. The trip will give us a chance to work on things both on and off the pitch with the players in a very good environment and focus on how we want the season to pan out for us.”
