Cork City Women announce the double capture of Amy O'Reilly and Alan Belmajdoub

Cork City Women have this afternoon announced the double capture of goalkeeper Amy O’Reilly and goalkeeping coach Alan Belmajdoub. O’Reilly a Tallaght native has joined the Leesiders from Glounthaune United after the Shot stopper recently spent some time training with SSE Airtricity League First Division side Cobh Ramblers.

O’Reilly’s addition will bring added competition to the goalkeeping department of Cork City Women, with the goalkeeper competing for the number one jersey with both Trish Fennelly and Chelsea Noonan.

Speaking after the news was announced, O’Reilly told Corkcitywomensfc.com that she was delighted with the opportunity to compete in the Women’s National League.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed with Cork City W.F.C. It’s an amazing opportunity to be playing in such a professional environment and to be playing with the best soccer players Cork has to offer.

“Just from the last few weeks of training you can already tell that Niall and the rest of the coaching staff have high expectations for this team and I have full confidence that we will achieve great things this year.”

Alan Belmajdoub joins Cork City women having previously enjoyed spells with Douglas Hall, Wilton United, Cobh Ramblers and Cork City youth section.

Speaking after the announcement Belmajdoub said he is delighted to be part of the Cork management for the coming season and that he’s looking forward to working with the three talented keepers to help them continue their development in the coming season.

"I'm delighted to come on board as part of Niall's management team for the upcoming season - he's a great coach and he's building a really good squad here in Cork. I'm really looking forward to getting the season underway and helping the goalkeepers develop further and improve as much as possible. We're lucky to have three great stoppers here already - and hopefully we can bring them on even more."
