The following suspensions and sanctions were issued by the Disciplinary Committee at their meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Suspensions are effective as and from Wednesday, April 2, unless otherwise stated. Suspensions are effective at first team level unless otherwise stated.
Chris Bennion (Dundalk) suspended for TWO (2) competitive matches and fined €50 as a result of having been sent off v Shelbourne (07.03.08). Automatic suspension in next eircom League of Ireland match as per FIFA directive already served and ONE (1) competitive match as and from Wednesday, April 2.
David Bracken (Sporting Fingal) suspended for TWO (2) competitive matches and fined €50 as a result of having been sent off v Longford Town (08.03.08). Automatic suspension in next eircom League of Ireland match as per FIFA directive already served and ONE (1) competitive match as and from Wednesday, April 2.
Dundalk fined €100 for team misconduct (five players carded) v Shelbourne (07.03.08).
Brian Gannon (Sporting Fingal) suspended for ONE (1) eircom League of Ireland match and fined €50 as a result of having been sent off v Longford Town (08.03.08). Automatic suspension in next eircom League of Ireland match as per FIFA directive already served.
John Hayes (Waterford United) suspended for TWO (2) competitive matches and fined €50 as a result of having been sent off v Wexford Youths (07.03.08). Automatic suspension in next eircom League of Ireland match as per FIFA directive already served and ONE (1) competitive match as and from Wednesday, April 2.
Pat Kavanagh (Bray Wanderers) suspended for ONE (1) eircom League of Ireland match and fined €50 as a result of having been sent off v Cork City (07.03.08). Automatic suspension in next eircom League of Ireland match as per FIFA directive already served.
St. Patrick’s Athletic had no action taken against them in relation to the naming of seven substitutes on the team sheet v Sligo Rovers (07.03.08) after the Committee considered the submission by the club and the supplemental submission by the Referee.
St. Patrick’s Athletic fined €150 as a result of objects having been thrown on to the field of play v Sligo Rovers (07.03.08).
St. Patrick’s Athletic fined €1,000 as a result of a colours clash v Sligo Rovers (07.03.08). The club was found to be in breach of Rule 13.3 of the Participation Agreement. Notwithstanding the finding of the Committee that Sligo Rovers were in breach of the rules by not bringing a second strip, the failure by the club to comply with the Referee’s instruction was clearly in breach of the Rules.
Sligo Rovers fined €100 as a result of objects having been thrown on to the field of play v St. Patrick’s Athletic (07.03.08).
Sligo Rovers fined €1,000 as a result of a colours clash v St. Patrick’s Athletic (07.03.08). The club was found to have failed to bring a second strip as required. Notwithstanding the assertion by the club that the second strip would have clashed, the failure to bring this second strip was one of the factors which led to the situation that occurred.
