McGrath in with a chance against Fingal

Wexford Youths defender Tim McGrath could be in line to make his second start for the club away to Sporting Fingal this Friday night.

McGrath, a summer signing from local Wexford league side Wexford Celtic having spent time with Glasgow Celtic and Waterford United earlier in his career, was rested for the last home game against Waterford.

After a sturdy debut away to Shels at the heart of Wexford’s back four partnering Anto Russell, it was hoped the two could develop their understanding together. This would add some experience to a team packed with players coming up from the successful underage set up manager Mick Wallace has spent a decade nurturing in the county.

The centre-half is still regarded as having the natural talent and ability to read the game that was spotted as a youngster, and will be welcomed back to the Youths defence after resting his knee as a precaution last Friday.

McGrath is reported to have undergone a cartilage operation on his knee pre-summer '08 and is prone to the odd flare-up, but it is not considered a major problem by those involved with the club.
