Youths add five as they prepare for UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers
On Thursday afternoon, it was revealed that Wexford Youths are off to Poland for their Champions League qualifying campaign and Youths management have wasted no time in preparations for those games with the news that they have signed five new players.
After spending a season with Peamount United and helping them to the Women’s National League Cup final, Linda Douglas has re-signed for the Youths, while Maria Delahunty has also re-signed for Wexford after a year out of the game.
In a move that has surprised many people, former Ireland U19 international Emma Hansberry has made the switch to Wexford from Castlebar Celtic.
In addition to the three signings that were announced prior to the Champions League draw, Youths have also confirmed the capture of former Galway WFC captain Ruth Fahy, while former Raheny United full-back Clare Conlon another former Youth has made the switch back to her former club.
Extratime.ie spoke to Youths coach Laura Heffernan about the new additions
“We are delighted to have all the players on board. They all bring a mix of experience, leadership and technical ability and it will create great competition for places within the squad.”
