Limerick get new title sponsor

Limerick FC announced today that the Limerick Independent newspaper is to be the new title sponsor of the club for the 2009 Division One Season.

The Limerick Independent will be supported by a team of associate sponsors namely The Strand Hotel Limerick, Spin South West, Yang Jing Beer and Auto Xchange. The sponsorship was officially launched by Mayor of Limerick, Cllr John Gilligan.

Confirming the sponsorship deals, Jack McCarthy, Owner, Limerick FC, said: “Corporate Sponsorship is of vital importance to the success of Limerick FC and the support shown through the assembly of a group of well know brands as corporate supporters offers a great endorsement of what the club are trying to achieve. I would like to particularly thank Declan Moylan of the Limerick Independent for coming on board as title sponsor and showing so much faith in our plans to develop to club as an integral part of the community. ”

Declan Moylan, MD, Limerick Independent, welcomed the opportunity to come on board as new club title sponsor, saying: “We are delighted to be able to come on board and support such a strong local sporting cause such as Limerick FC. Limerick FC has always played a very important part in the Sporting Limerick community so this sponsorship is a natural association for the Limerick Independent given our strong community focus and loyal local readership. Limerick FC has an extremely talented local squad who will no doubt be pushing for promotion this season and the Limerick Independent are delighted to play out part in supporting their aim of promotion to the Premier Division.”

Limerick FC also confirmed that caretaker manager Paul O’Donnell and Mick Sheilds will continue to carry out the role until the 25th March at which the club hope to be in a position to announce a manager. The interview process will be headed up by club owner Jack McCarthy over the next 10 days.
