The Waves head into Wednesday’s rearranged game on the back of several strong results which stretches back to the middle of January.

Julie Ann Russell spoke with Extratime.ie about the mood within the camp heading into this week’s game

“The mood is great within the camp. We have had some great wins and performances in the past few games so we are looking to continue to bring this form into this game and finish the season on a high.”

In their last outing UCD recorded their first victory over newly crowned league champions Wexford Youths, on a 3-0 scoreline thanks to goals from Orlagh Nolan and two from Julie Ann Russell.

Julie Ann Russell also spoke about the Wexford Youths game.

“First of all it was great to win the game, secondly it was great to see such a strong team performance and to score three goals.

Jackson Park was enough to secure second place in the table in just their first season, after Raheny united failed to beat Peamount on the same day.

Julie Ann explained to Extratime.ie that this season for Waves has brought huge satisfaction.

“Although we did not collect any silverware I would describe the season as very good. Although a lot of us played previously together, there was a lot more new faces and different set up so I think it was always going to take a few months for us all to gel together.”

Last month Julie Ann Russell was named Ireland’s International Player of the Year, an award which she was delighted to receive.

“It has been an honour to be recognised of having a good season both with club and country. I would put my good form down to hard work and commitment. Balancing a full time job and training consists of long days. Up early for work and then going straight to gym and trainings. Without dedication and hard work I don't think my form would have shined like it did the past season.”

Peamount United

Peamount come into Wednesday's game hoping to write the wrongs of last Sunday’s Women’s National league Cup final where they conceded a goal in the 121st minute to hand Raheny United the WNL Cup.

Extratime.ie spoke to Hayley Nolan about the disappointments of Sunday’s game.

“After the game on Sunday we were obviously very disappointed with the result as we felt we should have won the game in normal time. Although we have to give credit to Raheny as they never gave up .It was a great match and both sides gave it their all to the final whistle.”

Hayley also explain to Extratime.ie that it will not be hard to motivate the players for the midweek clash with Waves.

“I don't think motivation will be an issue for us for the game against UCD as we want to finish of the season on a high note. We also feel we can secure the three points away from home as we have had good run of games recently, including a one-nil win against Wexford. We want to finish on as many points as possible in order to build a platform for next season.”
