UCD Waves 3-0 Wexford Youths

 

After two failed attempts, UCD Waves finally secured their first victory over Wexford Youths, in turn handing the visitors their second straight defeat since securing there first Women’s National League title.

 

Orlagh Nolan got the Waves off to a perfect start when firing past Mary Rose Kelly in the visitors goal after 21 minutes, nine minutes later Nolan doubled the host lead after a some great team play by the Waves.

 

Senior International footballer of the year Juile Ann Russell ensure the points were safe for the hosts ten minutes into the second half after Aine O’Gorman switched the plan and Russell fired into the back of the Youths net.

 

Sunday's result ensures that UCD Waves can not be caught for second place in the league. The Waves have one final fixture when they host Peamount United on the 29th of April.

 



Galway WFC 1-0 Castlebar Celtic

 

Galway secured their bragging rights in the Connacht Derby and their first victory over Castlebar this season thanks to a 1-0 victory in Eamon Deacy Park.

 

The only goal of the game was scored by Lynsey McKey, who grabbed her sixth goal of the campaign.

 



The result see’s Galway record only their second home victory of the season and finish the campaign in sixth place on 14 points, Castlebar finish the season in fifth place on 18 points.
