League Preview: Cabinteely -v- Waterford United
CABINTEELY FC
Cabinteely began brightly in the Airtricity League First Division with a win over Wexford Youths, but defeats to Finn Harps and Shelburne see them just one place off the bottom going into this match.
Their debut to League of Ireland football has, so far, been rather successful. Doubts about the ability of a team located between UCD and Bray Wanderers to survive in League of Ireland football have been somewhat alleviated by home crowds over the thousand mark and competitive results.
Waterford intend to treat Cabo with the upmost utmost respect: Blue’s manager Tommy Griffin, speaking afterhis side’s loss to Finn Harps at the RSC, commented that he saw the Harps game as the fixture he would most likely take three points from.
“I saw the Harps game as the one that we might win and that the game next week would be more difficult but we just have to go up there and win”
WATERFORD UNITED
Waterford will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat against Finn Harps. Despite the result, manager Tommy Griffin was pleased by some of the things he saw from his side last week.
"I thought that we were acquitting ourselves really well in the first half against Finn Harps and were doing really well until conceding that first goal”.
It was a night of frustration from a Waterford perspective as Griffin felt that his side had "caused them a lot of trouble after the opening ten minutes of the game and we were going well. We looked like we were the team in control and that we were the ones that were going to score”.
The 2-0 defeat sees them sit just one point above Cabinteely ahead of this game. The Blues are without the services of Shane Nolan, who was sent off against Finn Harps and Shane Dineen is a doubt while Dylan Mernagh and Craig Burns return to the fold.
