Wednesday (25th March) sees Castlebar Celtic make the 244km trip to Dublin in a rearranged Women's National League game to play defending league champions Raheny United.

 

Both sides will be aiming to collect all three points and continue to build moment from their previous victories, Raheny recorded a 2-1 win against league leaders Wexford Youths in the league cup semi-final, while Castlebar defeated Peamount United by the same scoreline in Celtic Park.

 

The two sides have clashed on three previous occasions this season, with Raheny having come out victorious on all three occasions, twice in the league and most recently in the League Cup Quarter-Finals last month, in the process scoring 14 goals and conceding just once.

 



Raheny United boss Casey McQuillan spoke to Extratime.ie in the build-up and explained that Raheny are not taking the challenge of Castlebar Celtic lightly with a view to Saturday's huge game with Wexford Youths.

 

"Castlebar will be given the same respect as everybody else and we will as always field a team we think are capable of winning the game. We will start thinking about the Wexford game after Wednesday."

 

Raheny must plan without the services of centre back Pearl Slattery who is starts a two match ban after receiving a straight red card in the defeat to UCD Waves in the Pandas previous league outing, while long term absentee Rachel Graham still remains sidelined due to a foot injury.
