Garcia becomes the latest signing out West
Galway United have announced the signing of Kevin Garcia as Tommy Dunne continues to build on his side's strength in depth.
Most comfortable as a defender, Garcia can also play as a midfielder, a versatility that should ensure he sees a fair amount of game time over the course of the rest of the season.
Indeed, the 24-year-old will be seen as a welcome addition to the squad as Galway have struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier Division in their opening few encounters, despite winning against Drogheda United last Friday.
It will be interesting to see how the former New England Revolution player can help sort out Galway’s defensive frailties when it comes to defending set pieces, but he should settle in much quicker with fellow New Yorker Jake Keegan in the set-up.
Clearly, Garcia is keen to get stuck in, as he readies himself for a series of tough tests in the coming few weeks.
“It’s been a long, tedious process,” Garcia said
“I’ve been in talks with Tommy Dunne since the end of January, I’m just glad that it’s finally sorted itself out and now I’m ready to concentrate on my football and help the team out in anyway I can,” the American stated.
“Every week is better. In my first week I was a little tired, I was just getting my fitness back. I knew I needed to get myself back to where I was initially, I feel confident now and I’m looking forward to the match against Cork City on Tuesday,” he admitted.
